Early Bird Lions Club Regular Meeting

Minutes of July 9, 2010  (beginning @ 6:30am ending @ 7:28am.)

 

She-Lion Jean Donaldson called the meeting to order.

Fourteen members were present and two guests; Lions Jean Donaldson, Sara Ward, Patrick McDonald, Tim Hays, Don Ward, Jorge Lozano, Marvin Bottomley, Vern Goldwater, Bob Mathews, Ruben Garcia, Mike Bergagnini,  Gastavio Matamoros, Dennis Goans, and Lion Laurie Wycoff.  Two guests were Marcell Lozano and Mr. Floid McCord.

Flag salute was by Lion Patrick.  Song was lead by Lion Tim.  Invocation was by Lion Bob.

MINUTES: Lion Tim requested the minutes of the previous meeting be read.  Lion Sara read the minutes of the meeting from June 25, 2010.  One correction sited.   President of LCIF should have been LCI.  So noted.

Correspondence by Lion Sara included information from the cabinet meeting on the Peace Poster, thank you cards from Kyndall Green and Ethan Ellis.  A thank you card also from She-Lion Jean was read.  She-Lion Jean handed a check to Lion Tim from Dixie at Daisy Maes’ for $100 towards the BBQ Cook-Off.  It is important that all members thank Dixie, the Café as well as the good service from the waitress.

There is no speaker today as to offer She-Lion Jean meeting time to address her goals for the year and to appoint committee members.  She stated her goals for this 2010-2011 were to have more fund raisers and to hopefully donate $1000 to Habitat Humanity.

She-Lion Jean asked Lion Ruben to continue being the Sight Chairman.  He agreed.  She- Lion Jean appointed Lion Mary Schneider to Membership Committee, and Lion Tim Hays to the Program Committee.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

  1. Sight – Lion Ruben is still attempting to contact one person and another person he’s not been able to contact.

  2. Membership-Lion Mary no report.

  3. Program Report- Lion Tim is hoping to have someone from Wichita to speak on corneas for our next meeting.  Other ideas would be possibly the Rotary and their mission as well as other clubs and what their goals are. 

Other Committee Reports:

  1. Dare Project by Lion Sara informed group we had 120 patties donated by Creekstone and $25 donated by Dillons.  Lions Bob and John will be the grillers.  Lions Mike, Ruben, Don, Jean, and Vern will set up/serve/clean up.  Lion Marvin will be the greeter and man the door for workers.  Set up will begin at 10AM at the Prairie View Christian Camp.  Campers and their helpers are the only ones allowed to eat.  Food left may be purchased by club members if the camp is not able to use it.  Lion Sara will purchase and make buns, potato salad, baked beans, etc.

  2. Fair Pop Sales by Lion Tim and he informed the group of the sign-up sheet and encouraged all to become involved.  Informed group of the schedules of noon-3pm, 3pm – 6pm, and 6pm-10pm or after depending upon time sales cease.  Floyd has the transportation of the Pop cooler under control. 

  3. BBQ Cook-Off by Lion Bob/John Sept. 3 & 4th just had a meeting yesterday at the Sirloin Stockade as well as other meetings planned on the first, second, and third Thursdays in August will be there as it’s a good meeting place.  A lot was discussed including the project has half of the needed money for the prizes.  Lion Tim encouraged all members to be present and partner w/ their club members in making this project a real success. 

Lion Jean also appointed Lion Don Ward to the calling committee.  He is to call all members prior to the clubs’ meetings. 

Happy Bucks  $1 given by Lion Mike for his new seat.   Guest Marcel Lozano, Lion Jorge’s son, drew the lucky #.  Ticket sales collected $7.25, $.50 fines and $1 happy bucks from Lion Mike.  Winner of the drawing was Vern Goldwater winning a total of $3.75.

Lion Mike made motion for this meeting to be adjourned.  Lion Sara seconded motion.
