ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS

OF

ARKANSAS CITY EARLY BIRD LIONS CLUB

IN 2006-2007

 

  1. Sponsors a Youth Leo Club in Arkansas City as an ongoing project with expenses of $290.00.

  2. Conducted an Orientation Session for new and old members with 12 in attendance.

  3. Members worked at the Cowley County Fair in the Lions booth and earned $528.50 for the Activity Account.

  4. Conducted a Picnic Cookout Fund Raiser at Lions Park in August and raised $215.00.

  5. Conducted a Community Calendar project to raise money for the Activity Account and earned a profit of $1,528.00.

  6. Members worked at the Walnut Valley Festival Lions Booth and earned $63.00.

  7. Donated $100.00 to the Brandon Venable family who lost their home to fire.

  8. Conducted a Candy Day project at the local Dillon’s and Wal-Mart stores in Ark City and raised $518.14.

  9. Continued to participate with the AC Lions Club and the AC Lioness Club to help sponsor the Arkalalah Street Events at a cost of $167.00.

  10. Donated $100.00 to the IXL School Winter Coat project and gave out 17 coats in conjunction with Lion Scott Cranford’s donation of $85.00.

  11. Co-sponsored with the Evening Lions Club the Cabinet Meeting held in Arkansas City in November at a cost of $14.00.

  12. Held our 25th Anniversary of our Charter Dinner at a cost of $188.00.  This expense included the pens we purchased to give away at the dinner and Club meetings.

  13. Distributed 13 food baskets at Thanksgiving at a cost of $299.00.

  14. Donated $100.00 to ACCA for their service to our Club at the Anniversary Dinner.

  15. Rang bells for the Salvation Army at Wal-Mart with 9 members working.

  16. Held a Christmas party for members and guests.

  17. Purchased magnetic calendars as gifts to all members at a cost of $65.00.

  18. Paid our Daisy Mae waitress, Alma Daymude a $50.00 tip for work at the Christmas party.

  19. Honored long time Lions supporter and former Lion member, Scott Cranford with an Honorary Membership in our Club.

  20. Donated $200.00 to the Shanks/Sanderholm Memorial Scholarship Fund.

  21. Conducted a Fish Fry fund raiser dinner in February and took in $438.00 for the Activity Account.

  22. Conducted a Brisket on a Bun Fund Raiser in March and earned $775.36 profit for the Activity Account.

  23. Sponsored the Lions Mobile Screening Unit at the AC Health Fair at a cost of $200.00.

  24. Co-sponsored Lions Youth Baseball Team in Ark City at a cost of $75.00.

  25. Donated $500.00 to Greensburg Disaster Relief through KLF in June, 2007.

  26. Gave flowers/plants/donations to members who lost loved ones during the year at a cost of $102.00.

  27. Paid annual corporation fees of $40.00 to the Kansas Secretary of State.

  28. Serviced 20 eye care cases this year and paid $1,088.30 for exams and eyeglasses.

  29. Continued to support Club Website that earns money for the Club.

  30. Many visitations by Club members to area Lions Clubs including Winfield, AC Lions, Newkirk and others.

  31. Gained a total of 6 new members during this year, with membership standing at 27 at the end of June.

  32. Collected 613 pairs of used eyeglasses for use in 3rd world countries.

  33. Held a Picnic/Meeting and installed all new officers for next year and inducted three members into Lions.
